Alice Capitani is our Head Coach and Partner for Gymnastics and Acrobatics.
She is a former Olympic Gymnast and an International Acrobatic Performer from Italy.
Alice first participated in artistic gymnastics when she was the tender age of 5 years and became so passionate about the activity by the time she was 9, she was training seriously for up to eight hours a day. This degree of training became worthwhile when she was selected for the Italian National Team and began to compete on the national and international stage. The culmination of her efforts was Alice being an integral part of the Italian Gymnastics team at the Sydney Olympic Games in 2000.
In 2008, Alice’s dedication to her sport was further rewarded when she received the highly prestigious “World Class Gymnast” Award from F.I.G. in recognition of her outstanding contribution to gymnastics.
After retiring from competitive gymnastics, Alice extended her career by becoming an international acrobatics performer. To date she has performed in Europe, South America, Australia and the Middle East. Alice still performs when her teaching schedule allows.
Alice has extensive knowledge in her specialist fields and is an outstanding teacher and coach who is able to relate to both ‘new to the sport’ children and extend the capabilities of more advanced students. She is a Level 3 FIG Certified coach in Artistic Gymnastics and Aerobic Gymnastics.
With her wealth of expertise and experience, Alice has a multiple role in TDP Gymnastics as she not only plans the programmes and teaches a number of the classes we offer, she also leads the Junior and Senior Gymnastics squads. In addition, Alice mentors and develops our other teachers by ‘team teaching’ and assessing their styles so that we can maintain quality coaching throughout the full spectrum of classes on offer.
